I added some functionality to the forum to make it easier to organize events; click here for details. This can be used to organize online poker games/tournaments amongst members here. Here's how.

Handle in your Profile

First, to make it easy to keep track of people, add your PokerStarts and/or Full Tilt Poker handle to your user profile. To do this, make sure you are logged in, then click on your name in the upper-right corner of the screen, and choose "My Settings". Then below Your Settings, click on the "Profile" tab, and scroll down to "Other Information". Here you will see fields for your PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker handles.

Enter your handle(s) as applicable, and then click on the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page.

Joining a Game

I've pinned a topic entitled GarTrader Poker League -- Every Sunday @ 9:00pm EDT on PokerStars that contains all of the instructions you need in order to:

 • Be notified of upcoming poker tournaments
 • Let us know that you're coming to a particular tournament
 • How to sign up for the league so I can record your stats
 • View the current league standings
The pinned thread tells you everything you need to do so... do it! :)

Organizing a Game

To organize a game, simply go to the Community Calendar and click on "Add Single Event", and fill in the details for the title, date, time, and content of your event. Make sure you include the following in the content of your event:

 • The date and time of your event (yes, again... list it in the content of the event too)
 • The network the game will be played on (presumably PokerStars or Full Tilt Poker)
 • The room name or password, and how to find the game for those who have never played in a private game before
 • Request that people who are interested in joining in on the game post in the topic to let you know that they are RSVP'd
 • Note the stakes and type of game (eg: $5 SnG or $.50 / $1 cash game)
 • Optionally have people meet you in the Chat room just prior to the event to coordinate
 • Any other information you think should be provided for the event (taunts, etc.)
Here's a template you can copy, paste, and edit to use that has most of this info in it already:

Event Title: PokerStars 11/8 Sunday Evening tournament
Event Author: moki
Calendar: Community Calendar
Event Date: 8 November 2009 (Single Day Event)

Network: PokerStars

Join us for a low stakes no limit hold 'em poker tournament! You can join us in the Chat room just prior to the event to help coordinate things, if you wish. You can also check the league standings here.

To join the game, log onto PokerStars, then from the Requests menu, choose Find Tournament... and enter the Tournament ID listed above in the dialog box, and click on the OK button. This will bring you to the tournament lobby. Click on the Register... button, then enter the password listed above, and click on the OK button, and you're ready to go!

Any comments/questions, let me know!
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it
