From Drudge....

FLASH: Ann Coulter Ottawa speech shut down... 2000 protesters surrounding building with rocks and sticks -- pulled fire alarm in building. Cops shut it down! Blogs calling for Coulter to be hurt. MPs were banned from going, Coulter denounced by an MP in the Parliement.

I love how I keep reading and seeing on TV that my side of the political spectrum is the side that is hate-filled and intolerant. :jerkoff:

What do you expect from Canucks?

Might have something to do with this:

"Tuesday's incident followed a speech Coulter gave Monday at the University of Western Ontario in which she told a Muslim student to "take a camel" instead of flying, CTV said.

The camel comment came after the student asked about Coulter's earlier remarks that Muslims shouldn't be allowed on airplanes and should take "flying carpets" instead. The student, Fatima Al-Dhaher, said she did not own a flying carpet and asked Coulter how she should travel.

"Take a camel," Coulter responded.

Al-Dhaher and some other students walked out after the camel comment, CTV reported.

Coulter said Tuesday that her comments were intended as satire.

"I can say it a lot quicker with a joke, and by the way, they wouldn't be bringing me in here for a speech if I never told a joke, if I never used satire," Coulter told CTV. "It's not so much a joke, it's satire because there's a political point behind my saying that they can take flying carpets.""

The old satire defense...

So, you don't think she employs satire? Read her weekly columns, I think she's just about the best at political satire that I've ever read. Sure, her satire sounds mean and is certainly not PC, and sure she goes too far from time to time, but 2000 people with sticks and rocks to prevent her from speaking? Not very tolerant I'd say.

Who really gives a shit? Ann Coulter speaking in Canada doesn't seem right to me anyway, Socialist Motherfuckers. And if there were other students that got up and left, chances are they were ragheads as well. By and large, the Canadians don't like the Mooslim fucks any more than we do.

That wasn't a satirical comment. It was an off colored joke. Trying to make the comment seem more high minded claiming it's satire is lame. A turd wrapped in a bow is still a turd. I could care less what she says or thinks on anything and I really don't care if those guys were offended, but don't make your living making radical, offensive, and politically charged statements to try and get a rise out of people and then be shocked when you do get a reaction.

Was it a tolerant reaction? No. Should they have reacted that way? Probably not. But why would you expect a tolerant reaction when she is an Right Wing American speaking to Canadians and essentially calling the Muslims in the crowd camel jockeys?

I thought when we first "met" you took me to task for opining how independents thought and that you had told me you were an independent...If I'm mistaken I apologize.

From years of debating this I'd say we all have sides but not necessarily parties. For me, I take offense to being lumped in with the vile, dirtbag, hypocrit Republicans and I state my voting independence, but I absolutely have a "side".

Max is likely in that same boat.

I am an independent. Flyfish made a sarcastic remark about how republicans are stereotyped for being nasty and vile, and then there is a description from him of Ann Coulter's MO, which is basically nasty and vile.

Why is this hard to follow?

Why is this hard to follow?

Because my reading comprehension was for shit when I read your post the first time and missed the quotation marks.

My bad.

My opinion of Coulter is very low, not because of her politics, but rather because of her mean streak. I'd fully expect her to be a battered wife if she married a man.
