Well, as long as she writes the right things on her hand where's the harm.

Hell, Comrade Prezident is supposedly so smart but he keeps making the wrong moves, so how smart is he really?

She is just a big dummy.

It is not a "left/right" thing. There are plenty of dumb left-wing Democrats too. Like Maxine Waters. It's just that no one is touting those morons for President.

I agree with probably 60-70% of her stated policy positions, but would NEVER vote for her because she is just TOO STUPID.

I hear a lot of folks saying that they like Sarah Palin because she is "one of us." Well the folks saying that are obviously dumbasses, too. The LAST thing we need is "one of you" idiots anywhere NEAR the oval office. If the US ever elects that imbecile to its highest office, it would be a fitting conclusion to our experiment with democracy.

That truly is the sad part, most of her stated policy is just what we need IMO. Talk about the wrong messenger. It's gotta be scaring the crap outta the pubs since it's obvious she isn't going away anytime soon.

I don't understand why this is funny.

I speech coached corporate bigdawgs for big presentations.
  • If teleprompter -> leave notes page up for Q&A
  • If no teleprompter -> cover speech cards with notes page on podium

Crib notes on your hand may not be as slick as crib notes on a teleprompter, but there's no difference.

That said, Palin still strikes me as a box of rocks although she's going to school and may be ready for a run by 2012.

LMAO!!! No shit, while I kind of like her folksy honesty, and her tits, she is simply too stupid to even be running a fucking McDonalds.

OTOH, Obama is supposed to be so smart and look how badly he is fucking everything up. Perhaps integrity should be ranked higher than intelligence as a priority for our President.

Yes, and given a person of average intelligence, which one would that person more likely need to have written down in order to remember: a 30 minute speech, or six words?

Um , , , she was using the crib notes scribbled like an idiot on her hand when she was answering prearranged questions in a Q&A session AFTER her speech.

BTW, Sarah Palin uses a teleprompter for her speeches too.

But non of those were in front of a 6th grade class. I think that was the point, but I could be wrong.

Personally, I can care less who uses what the keep track of notes, but that's just me. There are more important things to be concerned about going on in our country than a ex-governor/VP candidate that can't effect anything of importance in regards to the country. (bills/laws etc)

Exactly ! I am regularly mystified by the fear that she strikes in the hearts of the Koolaid Krowd. She's pretty...she has a following, but when all is said and done she's a non-player in the grander scheme. If she wants to insure 4 more years of Erkel she will make a run for the White House. Hell, the socialists oughta be donating to her war chest !

Fear? Koolaid Krowd? Maybe in your unique world. I think a lot of people find it really funny that many of her supporters were the ones all over the teleprompters (even though they have been used for decades) yet they let this slide as cool and can't undertstand the fuss. The fact that it blew up in their face is 95% of the story.

I guess the Hannity-esque chimp screaming came home to roost. Guess they have to redouble their efforts on flag pins and birth certificates.

Yeah. As evidenced by the big deal that the left makes in an effort to neutralize her. If their claim, that she is such a joke to them (you?) were true, why the need to demonize her ?

Perhaps you could explain how someone you labeled a "non-player" could assure Obama's re-election just by deciding to run for President.

No. You can't. And it matters not whether she decides to run or not, she is "player" because by your own words, her decision itself would affect Obama's re-election.

You fucked up. Not the first time; won't be the last. Just admit it and move on.

Interesting thread. Random comments in response to various thing I read above...

- Using note cards in giving a speech is VERY different than reading a speech on a teleprompter. I see her writing something on her hand as no different than using a note card. It's probably a chick thing.

- I have no idea whether Palin is "presidential material." Maybe she is, maybe not. We'll probably never know. One thing is damn sure, though -- the smartest person in the room is very rarely the best leader. The best CEOs surround themselves with people smarter than they are. Ronald Reagan (and before any dipshit says anything, I'm not comparing Palin to Reagan) wasn't a Rhodes Scholar, and probably had an IQ a tad over 100. But he was a hell of a leader. Jimmy Carter, on the other hand, is a brilliant man, but he's a brilliant bureaucrat -- one of the worst presidents in history. The best president in U.S. history, IMO, was Andrew Jackson. Nobody ever accused him of being a brainiac.

- I pray that Palin doesn't run for president in 2012. There are better GOP candidates out there, and I'm 100% certain that she can't win. She might do a helluva job, but she can't win. And I just want somebody to get that empty suit POS out of the White House.

seriously...this is not an attack on you personally

I want you to consider something...do you think you are smart enough to be president?

If you say no, I want you to reconsider.

If you were elected, based upon citizens' responses to your stated positions and then you

1 - picked cabinet members and judges who agree with your, and therefore the people who voted for you, positions; and

2 - made decisions that comport with those stated positions

how smart do you need to be?

I'm serious.

Presumably both you and Palin graduated from college, have been in the work force, paid taxes, been impacted by government policies, etc...

what other qualifications do you really need?

right now, I'm thinking the best qualifications to run the country is not being part of the 'elite'

an ivy league school should disqualify one from holding any federal elected office...

something to ponder

and btw, I'm a damn good trial attorney

and I ALWAYS had an 8x11 sheet of paper with the basics on it when I walked up to talk to a jury:

who, what, when, where, how...you can't read an opening or closing statement to a jury, but you damn sure have to touch on all the elements of a crime and it's bad form to forget the name of your victim, date of a crime, location, etc...

so I don't care if Palin or Erkel use a teleprompter, note cards or write on their hands...hell, I've seen other good trial attorneys write notes on their hands

who cares.

I too, hope Palin doesn't run, simply because the Media has decided there is no way they will giver her fair coverage and we need to get rid of Erkel as quickly as possible.

But I don't really want to see anyone from either party that his part of the elite getting elected.

We need regular people that understand how to live off a fixed income without using a credit card in their personal lives running this country.

I'm hoping for change...

Another point to consider here. Many of us think that Ronald Reagan was the best President we have had in that post war era. He was the best not so much because of policy, but because of leadership.

He was never made out to be any kind of genious, but he was a leader.

I AM NOT COMPARING Governor Palin to Ronaldus Magnus in any way other than to illustrate what Carl said. Pure intellect is not nearly as important as leadership skills and quality of association.

George W Bush in the days following 9/11 was for those first two weeks probably among the greatest leaders this nation ever had. This, even though he is not generally considered all that smart........despite a snooty elietist ivy league education.

Ronald Reagan was a lot smarter than many of you give him credit for. You don't get that far without at least being very street smart.

And since when did smart become "elite"? What a fucked up notion.

I should do a better job of differentiating the two. Obama is clearly an example of an 'elite' that isn't 'smart' - street or otherwise.

Ted Kennedy, sober now for approximately 5 months, was street smart and an elite.

To re-frame your question, "since when does being 'elite' make you smart?"

I'd rather have us regular joes who are successful in what we do (especially successful business people) in congress than the 'elite.'
