Anyone want to bet on whether or not Limbaugh will play "Barack, the Magic Negro" on his next show?

LOL!

Be PROUD Nevadans! When America thinks of Nevada, we think of your best and brightest - the people you have chosen to represent you before all of America: John Ensign and Harry Reid. :goodjob:

LOL! I'm sitting here watching Fox News Sunday now and they're having fun with this one. They're always careful to have at least one African American on the show when they discuss these things.

What the hell is wrong with Tim Kaine's lips..............Looks like he burnt them sucking on a tail pipe.

Hey, dumbfuck, read the news.

Of course it was racist. But not by me, as they were not my words, but those of that POS Senator Harry Reid from Nevada. That was kind of the point - to castigate that POS for calling Barack Obama (for whom I voted in 2008, BTW) "a light-skinned African-American with no Negro accent unless he wants to have one."

Thanks for playing!

Senator Dishrag is a Dem and a loyal one so the media will give him a pass on this. He'll play or has already played the old "I know what I said but you see what I MEANT was...." and they'll let it slide.

Thank you Nevada for sucha fine and devoted non-partisan representative. :goodjob:

Don't forget Senator Ensign, a married man and family values advocate who was screwing his fomer subordinate campaign staff member, and then used campiagn funds to pay her and her husband (abother staff member) hush money to keep the affair quiet, and then set the husband up in a lobbying business whose main (only?) apparent purpose was to lobby Ensign himself.

This sounds very family oriented, so why criticize him for "family values" issues?

Although he was dumb to make such a statement, I don't see it as that bad in context. My understanding is that he was discussing (and strategizing about) the chances of Obama winning the Presidency. The fact that Obama is lighter skinned and doesn't have a strong dialect made him more "electable" in Reid's opinion. That statement implies that there are many race-wary or racist voters, not that the speaker is racist themselves.

I disagree.

The statement indicates that Reid thinks white folks would not vote for a black man if he is "too dark."

Sounds like he thinks America is some kind of twisted version of Disneyland where there is a sign next to the White House that says: "You must be at least THIS light-colored to live here."

I am not claiming to be racially blind, but I didn't vote for Obama because of (or despite) his skin color. I voted for him because I considered that to be the best option for my family and my country. I suspect that the vast majority of Americans did likewise.

Meanwhile I find it hard to understand why people like Harry Reid seem to think that America is still some sort of cauldron of racial hatred when its most popular athletes are black (is Michael Jordan "light-skinned?"), its most popular musicians are black, many of its most popular actors and comedians are black, and it elected a black man to be its President.

I think you have touched upon every racist cliche out there. Obama being half white, being light skinned, being perceived as being damn near white were what got him elected....that and the "anything will be digestible after Bush" syndrome. No way, any dark skinned black man would have gotten elected. You may have voted according to your Liberal inclinations but not the rest of your fellow Americans.......mostly it's confused perceptions. Your final paragraph reveals your myopia.......if you can contain prominent and gifted blacks within the entertainment world (movies, TV, sports, comedy, music) and finance a lavish lifestyle for them, then you can pretend that the other 99.9% don't have it so bad after all. Just lock your car doors and speed through one of your DC ghettos to see the real world that white society has assigned to our black fellow citizens. Just gaze upon the black children imprisoned there and then return to your Potemkin village where all is good with blacks, well at least with the minute fraction that's sole purpose is to entertain you.

Can I take my black neighbor Norman with me to see the prison where you say that he belongs . . . I mean, so long as I return him to our "Potemkin village" when we are done? Someone must have really screwed up big time when they let him out of that prison and even worse, let him have a medical license.

However you are right about the entertainment thing. In addition to being a successful doctor, he has one hell of a sense of humor. Much funnier IMO than any of the parents of the black kids at my daughter's private school - especially the couple that has that house which is at least twice the size of mine, as well as a beautiful second home on a huge lot on the Chesapeake. I think they like it better there than they would at that prison to which you think they have been "assigned."

But I digress. This is not about the reasons for, and solutions to, multigenerational poverty. It is about whether or not Barack Obama was only electable because he was a "light-skinned black."

Before this nonsense started, I really hadn't ever tried to gauge the "shade" of Obama's skin. Before this discussion, it never even occurred to me to consider him "light-skinned." I mean, is Barack Obama noticeably "lighter-skinned" than Jesse Jackson???

Really . . . this is one of the stupidest, most ignorant things, I have heard from a politican lately. Congratulations on defending it (after you labeled it "racist" when you thought it was my own words).

I can't be fooled by your silver tongued trickery......with respect to "Norman", I could probably find a couple poor white people if I had to.
