So I took the leap and installed IP.Board and a bunch of add-on components (IP.Content, IP.Gallery, IP.Downloads, and IP.Blog) under the GarTrader.com domain. I'm still not entirely sure where I'm going with it... user registration is enabled, but it's really just a play toy at the moment. Here are some ideas:
IP.Blog - I can use this for general information on GarTrader.com in terms of things I'm working on, a diary of things I need to do, etc. It also lets users create their own blogs that are hosted here, which could be semi-interesting for some folks. Blogs can be public, private, or you can invite only select people to view them.
IP.Gallery - Pretty standard stuff, a good module to let people upload pictures and link to them so they are displayed in the forums.
IP.Downloads - I've no idea. I may make available some of the hires pictures of desktop pictures I've created.
IP.Content - This is the one I really want to play with. It will let me convert over a lot of the things I have on Vitolas.net under one umbrella, and let people here help me out with things like MSRP, etc. I'd like to be able to get rid of the vitolas.net software entirely at some point, and have it displayed in a better format using IP.Content. I might even make an "online humidor" where people can list the cigars they have in their collection, for their own inventory purposes... or they can let select people view it.
IP.Board - Does the world need another cigar board? I'm thinking probably not. But I'm playing with it anyway, I will probably keep it simple with just a few forums to post in.
The things thing about all of these packages is that they integrate together. If you sign up on GarTrader.com, you have an account on the forums, you have a place to upload pictures, you can create a blog here, you can help out with the MSRP information I make available, etc.
GarTrader.com forums are up
